Ice rink design

The conventional ice rink design inside an arena is square formatted with radii corners. Due to the regulations of sport associations according the facilities almost all ice rinks inside are dimensionally designed by 200 x 85 feet in North America and 60x30m in Europe.

Ice rinks for public skating only occasionally feature alternative designs.

The tendency for outdoor ice rinks in Europe is to add a skate path or so called skateway connected to an ice rink. The most impressing installation is the annually “Eistraum” in Vienna. With more than 60,000 sqft. of ice surface the probably worlds largest portable installation and surely the most visionary ice rink design. Assure yourself at www.wienereistraum.com.
