Figure skating rink

The section figure skating rink specifies the ice rink requirements of the ice skating disciplines:

- Single Skating,

- Pair Skating,

- Ice Dance, and

- Synchronized Skating.

The required sizes of a figure skating rink are determined in ISU (International Skating Union) rule 342 for single- and pair skating as well as for ice dance. According to that rule the dimensions of a figure skating rink “(…) if possible, shall measure sixty (60) meters in one direction and thirty (30) meters in the other, but not larger, and not less than fifty-six (56) meters in one direction and twenty-six (26) meters in the other.” You will find the same text in rule 723 which relates on Synchronized Skating.

I don't want to deprive you of the following quote of rule 342: “At ISU Championships and International Competitions, Referees, Judges and other Officials shall not be seated on the ice surface.”

Specifications of the dasher boards failed in the according ISU regulations. But basically figure skaters prefer dasher boards without extended glass protection.
