EPDM Ice ink
EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is an elastomer which is characterized by wide range of applications. Origin developed as a solar water warming system, EPDM-absorb-mats application enlarged within minor technical variances as an ice rink system. In the late 1980s, the technology established for portable ice rink systems in Europe.
Currently the well tried EPDM ice rink technology is distributed by some few companies in Europe. There are some fewer manufacturers of special EPDM-mats for ice rink technology. Because of using different composition of primary material, different qualities are available.
The EPDM-System is the most economical among the portable ice rink systems. The acquisition costs are comparatively reasonable priced. Due to the technologies material-conditioned structure, the EPDM ice rink system has, as the case may be, the by far most extensive cooling surface and consequently the lowest energy costs.
The portable EPDM ice rink system is advantageously getting delivered in stackable, purpose-built “Iceboxes”, invented by an Austrian AST-Engineer. The EPDM-Icebox system guarantees simultaneously the protection of the collector pipes.

The EPDM-mats are getting rolled out on the location ground. No further foundations are required. The system is extremely configuration-flexible so your event can break the mold of quadrate ice rinks.
The EPDM ice rink system allows installation of ice lanes in user-defined design, length and breadth. For most events a level surface takes preference over uneven, but for this system it is not essential! The EPDM ice rink technology makes “downhill-skating” and jumps inside the ice rink possible.
In case of appliance the principle of “Tichelmann piping” for the ice rink header units, consequently the cooling liquid pressure is approximately constant in any point of the EPDM-mats cooling surface. Hence the ice temperature and quality is the same in the total area of the ice rink, preconditioned the solar radiation is equal.
The buildup of the ice base has to be generated multi-layered. The ice buildup procedure might take a little longer than using another system but ultimate perfect ice is guaranteed. The ice base demands only 5cm thickness, which reduces the operation expenses disproportionately.
Depends of the produced quality of the manufacturer and the treatment while dismantling of the facility, the whole equipment is durable. There is private property, 15+ year old ice rink equipment still in use, getting (re)installed in autumn and (re)dismantled in spring, year by year.
